Bio:
Normani Kordei (born Normani Kordei Hamilton on May 31, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American singer. Normani spent her early years in New Orleans, but had to move with her family to Houston, Texas, after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She developed an interest in music early on, performing since she was 3. She was mainly a soup and gospel singer before she auditioned for the second season of The X-Factor. Normani received a yes from all four judges, promoting her to the Bootcamp round of the competition. Though she was eliminated as a solo artist, she was brought back to be placed with Ally Brooke Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello and Dinah Jane Hansen in the girl group LYLAS (later renamed 1432 and then, Fifth Harmony.) Though Fifth Harmony ultimately placed third in the competition, the group continued to perform together after The X-Factor. They released their first EP, “Better Together,” in 2013 and in 2015, they released their first album. Their song, “Worth It,” became their first Top 15 hit. Along with “Worth It,” their songs “Boss” and “Sledgehammer” also went platinum. Fifth Harmony’s second album, 7/27, was released in 2016. The group’s next album will be its first without Camila, who left the group in Dec. 2016. Normani will compete on season 24 of Dancing With the Stars with pro Val Chmerkovskiy.
