Elizabeth Holmes (born Elizabeth Anne Holmes in Washington, D.C., on February 3, 1984) is an American businesswoman and founder and CEO of blood-testing company Theranos. After founding the company in 2003, she received accolades for the company’s achievements in cost-cutting, efficient blood testing. In recent years, though, former employees as well as some clients have accused Therano’s tests of giving inaccurate results, putting the company under investigation. In 2015, Elizabeth’s net worth was estimated at $4.5 billion as she had a 50 percent stake in her company. But on June 1, 2016, Forbes revealed that Elizabeth’s net worth was actually zero, as the initial estimate should have been about $800 million, most of which belongs to private investors.

Best Known For:
Elizabeth is best known for founding Theranos, a blood-testing and health-technology company. Thanks to her company, she was once the richest self-made woman in the nation.
