Halle Berry
Her Oscar Wins & Nominations
Halle Berry is a Hollywood icon and has been celebrated time and time again for her wonderful film work. Let’s look back on her journey to her historic Oscar win.
In 2002, Halle Berry was nominated for her role in the film ‘Monster Ball’.
The role also scored her nominations for a BAFTA, Golden Globe, & SAG Award.
Halle arrived to the Oscars wearing a stunning sheer Elie Saab gown that to this day is one of the most iconic red carpet looks of all time.
Halle was up against Hollywood heavyweights Nicole Kidman, Sissy Spacek, Judi Dench, and Renee Zellweger.
But it was Halle who won the Best Actress Oscar that night, becoming the first Black woman to win the honor!
“This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. It’s for the women that stand beside me: Jada Pinkett, Angela Bassett, Vivica Fox. And it’s for every nameless and faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened.” -- Halle’s Oscar Speech
Since then, Halle has not been nominated for another Oscar, but give it time – we have no doubt another one will be in her future!
Let’s look back at another legendary woman’s Oscar Journey, Meryl Streep!
