Young Thug (born Jeffrey Williams on August 9, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American hip-hop artist. Young Thug grew up in Sylvian Hills, an Atlanta neighborhood. He started to gain a following in 2011 and 2012 by releasing mixtapes, specifically his I Came From Nothing series. Young Thug’s skills caught the ear of rapper Gucci Mane, who went on to sign Young Thug to his 1017 Brick Squad Records. Thug released his fourth mixtape, 1017 Thug, that year. The positive reception built a buzz around Thug, who released his debut single, “Stoner” in 2014. Young Thug continued to gain critical praise and a fan following. Thug initially wanted to call his debut album Tha Carter VI, in tribute to Lil Wayne, but Lil Wayne disapproved. Thug then changed the title of the album to Hy!£UN35, announcing that it would be released in August 2015. As a rising star in the world of hip hop, Young Thug has worked along side some of the biggest names in the genre, including ASAP Ferg and Kanye West.

Personal Life:
Young Thug reportedly has five children. On July 7, 2015, Young Thug was arrested after threatening to kill a security official at an Atlanta, Georgia mall. He left the scene before police arrived. He was arrested a week after the incident on July 15. He was charged with making “terroristic threats” and was taken into custody. On July 16, Young Thug and fellow rapper, Birdman, were reportedly connected with Jimmy Winfrey in a conspiracy to murder Lil Wayne over Wayne’s lawsuit against Birdman. Jimmy Winfrey opened fire at Lil Wayne’s tour bus in April 2015.
