Plus, the grossest scene in ‘Scandal’ history comes courtesy of a very unlikely character.
After last week’s mom-revealing, Mellie-violating, Quinn-enlisting episode of Scandal, you’d think the Nov. 21 hour might take a breather, focusing on some lighter crises in the life of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington). Then you’d remember we’re talking about freaking Scandal. This week’s episode cranked ‘it’ up to 11, bringing more life-shattering secrets to light, and setting the stage for a mother-daughter reunion of Shonda proportions.

There is absolutely no denying that Mellie Grant is not a perfect human. Neither is her husband Fitz, or even ‘Scandal’ hero Olivia Pope for that matter. But last night’s painful, disturbing episode proved once and for all that we’ve all been way too hard on Mellie. It’s time to shut. It. Down.
Bellamy Young’s Mellie Grant has done some pretty horrible things during her tenure on Scandal. She’s tampered a presidential election, manipulated her husband for their mutual political gain and (gasp!) even had the audacity to react imperfectly when her husband humiliated her via multiple public affairs. But the Nov. 14 episode, “Everything’s Coming Up Mellie,” did a phenomenal job in finally humanizing her character — and I, for one, am really hoping that the tides of public opinion begin to turn in Mellie’s favor.

Elin Nordegren has been put through the ringer. Her world-famous (and now infamous) hubby Tiger Woods allegedly cheated on her with hordes of women and now, to make matters worse, she’s going through it virtually alone. The 29-year-old’s twin sis, Josefin Lonnborg, has already left her sister’s side after less than two weeks of helping Elin weather her own personal storm. Elin’s sis was spotted laughing and smiling with a co-worker in London on Dec 18, while her sister is bravely holding her head up high in Florida, trying to pick up the pieces of her broken life.
