She may not have won Miss USA, but Miss California, Nadia Mejia, definitely had the crowd captivated and moved by her story. During the pageant on June 5, Nadia opened up about her battle with anorexia, and in a blog post from earlier this year, she details her difficult journey even further.
Nadia Mejia, 20, had the Miss USA audience and viewers feeling quite emotional when she admitted to being anorexic during the 2016 pageant, but this wasn’t the first time she got real about her struggle with an eating disorder. Back in February, the 20-year-old explained how she got to this point, and how she continues to battle the disease each and every day.

Nadia Mejia, 20, competed in the 2016 Miss USA competition as Miss California and won the hearts of viewers across America. The west coast beauty unfortunately suffered form the most embarrassing moment of the night however, when she totally flubbed her answer to the Q&A portion of the show. But still, even under pressure the contestant reminded poise! Even better, Nadia has QUITE a colorful background and there’s no doubt she’s much more than a pretty face. Donald Trump — thankfully, there are consequences to making disrespectful comments about Latinos and you are getting backlash where it matters — in your wallet. Your Miss USA host, recording artist J. Balvin and other Latino stars will no longer participate in the Miss USA pageant. Good for them!
Donald Trump, when you made your announcement that you were running for president on June 16, you got more attention than even you bargained for, but not for the reason that you anticipated. That’s because you used your speech to insult Mexico, Mexicans and Mexican-Americans, with your choice remarks. “[Mexico is] sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs, and bringing crime, and their rapists,” Trump declared.
