K. Michelle (born Kimberly Michelle Pate on March 4, 1982 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American singer, musician, and television personality. While she was growing up, Kimberly learned to play guitar and piano while also taking voice lessons, which eventually led to her landing a music scholarship to Florida A&M University. After signing a record deal with Jive Records in 2009, K. Michelle gained attention for her debut single “Fakin’ It” that featured Missy Elliott. She released three more singles under her Jive contract before being bought out of it in October 2011. She joined the cast of VH1’s reality show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in 2012, but left after season two to join season four of Love & Hip Hop: New York. Following her time on the series, K. Michelle signed a deal with Atlantic Records, with whom she released her debut album, Rebellious Soul in 2013. She has since put out a second studio album titled Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart? and announced that she’ll be dropping a third in February 2016. In addition to her music work, K. Michelle has her own reality series, K. Michelle: My Life on VH1. In November 2015, K. Michelle made headlines for her announcement that she wants to have her butt implants removed to get her normal shape back and be taken more seriously in her career.

In late 2014, K. Michelle revealed that she had an 8-month affair with actor Idris Elba, who directed The Rebellious Soul Musical, which was based on her debut album. Nearly eight months later, K. Michelle confirmed that she was dating DJ Locksmith Rudimental with an Instagram post in July 2015. She has since remained mainly under the radar about her relationship life. K. Michelle also has an 11-year-old son, Chase, from a college boyfriend whom she is no longer in touch with.
