Anne Wojcicki (born Anne E. Wojcicki in San Mateo County, California on July 28, 1973) is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder and chief executive officer of the personal genomics company 23andMe. Anne attended Yale University, where she was a competitive ice skater and played on the varsity women’s ice hockey team. She ended up graduating with a B.S. in biology in 1996. She also conducted molecular biology research at the National Institutes of Health and the University of California, San Diego. After graduating, she worked as a health care consultant at Passport Capital, a San Francisco-based investment fund, and at Investor AB. She was a health care investment analyst for four years and oversaw health care investments, focusing on biotechnology companies. In 2000 she quite her job and began focusing on research. Six years later, in 2006, she co-founded 23andMe with Linda Avery. 23andMe is a privately held personal genomics and biotechnology company based in Mountain View, California that provides genetic testing.
Best Known For:
Anne Wojcicki is best known for being an extremely successful entrepreneur. In March 2016 she was thrust into the spotlight for her relationship with MLB player Alex Rodriguez.
Personal Life:
Anne Wojcicki married Sergey Brin, Google co-founder, in May 2007. Together they have one son: Benji Wojin, born in 2008, and one daughter: Chloe Wojin, born in 2011. In August 2013 it was announced that Anne and Sergey were living separately but were not yet legally divorced. In 2015 Anne did file for divorce, which was finalized in June of that same year. In March 2016 it was reported that Ann was dating the professional baseball player, Alex Rodriguez.
