’The Orville’: Photos Of The Hulu Show — The sci-fi comedy-drama The Orville premiered on Fox in 2017, and then was picked up by Hulu for a third season. Once the rights were sold to Hulu, it became The Orville: New Horizons. Explaining the decision to change the name in an interview with Collider, Seth MacFarlane, who writes the show, said it was his “boss over at Disney”, Dana Walden, who had the idea.

“And I thought it was kind of cool because it’s not a reboot, it’s a continuation, but it was just enough to tell the audience that we’re expanding a little bit. That the scope is bigger. The show is more ambitious. It’s going to feel more like a movie,” he eagerly shared. “It’s maybe going to feel a little more special. And it seemed appropriate also because it’s been a few years since we’ve been on the air and we’ve moved to Hulu and it’s a 10-episode run as opposed to, a 13-episode run.”

The show, according to its Hulu description, “is a space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory starship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life.”
