President Joe Biden gave his second State of the Union address on Tuesday, February 7. The president gave his speech to the joint session of Congress afte the 2022 midterm elections, which saw Republicans taking control of the House of Representatives, while Democrats held onto control of the Senate. In addition to the members of Congress, cabinet, and Supreme Court justices, First Lady JIll Biden also invited many guests, including Tyre Nichols’ parents, Brandon Tsay, Bono, Paul Pelosi, and many more.

The speech comes after a major year, besides the midterm elections. There were many instances that Americans were concerned, including after the Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade, threatening abortion rights. There were also major accomplishments, like Congress passing the Respect for Marriage Act.
