Sonya Eddy: Life In Photos — Sonya Eddy has passed away at the age of 55. The General Hospital star’s death was announced by her friend, Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer on Tuesday, Dec. 20. She took to Instagram to share, “My friend Sonya Eddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of General Hospital fans will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!” Her cause of death was not revealed immediately.

Sonya began portraying nurse Epiphany Johnson on General Hospital in 2006, starting a 540-episode long run. She also appeared on the series Those Who Can’t and Fresh Off The Boat. Her film roles included V/H/S 99 and Pee Wee’s Big Holiday. In addition to being an actress, she was a real-life registered nurse.

Here, Sonya appears in the 2003 film Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood, opposite Vickilyn Reynolds (left). The horror film is considered a camp classic.
