She’s got rhythm. Shakira, born Feb 2. 1977, is a Colombian singer and actress. She started singing in her native Spanish before her English language pop crossover and has continued to record in both languages since. Shakira’s biggest hits include Whenever, Wherever and Underneath Your Clothes from her 2001 album Laundry Service, La Tortura from her 2005 album Fijación Oral, Vol. 1, and Hips Don’t Lie, from her English 2005 album, Oral Fixation, Vol. 2. She’s sold over 80 million records, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
The talented artist and belly dancer has also received numerous awards for her music, including three Grammy Awards, twelve Latin Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, and seven Billboard Music Awards. In 2009, Billboard also named her the Top Female Latin Artist of the Decade. In 2020 she teamed up with Jennifer Lopez to entertain at the Super Bowl Half Time Show, which was one of the most-watched TV events in the world.
