Robert Downey Jr., born April 4, 1965, is a veteran actor, who’s been in the spotlight since childhood. The LA native was raised in Hollywood, as the son of actor/filmmaker Robert John Downey. His first role was at 5 years old, but he really made his mark as a member of the ‘Brat Pack’ in the 80s, appearing in ‘Weird Science’ (1985) and ‘Less Than Zero’ (1987). He would go on to earn an Oscar nod for playing Charlie Chaplin in 1992.
He endured a very public battle with substance abuse from the mid 90s to early 2000s. RDJ served a year in California state prison in 2000. Several more arrests would follow until he got clean and sober in 2003. Ready to work again, R.D.J. would be introduced to a new generation as Iron Man AKA Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in 10 of the superhero films.
