Neyla Pekarek is an American cellist, vocalist, and pianist. She gained popularity as a member of the folk rock band The Lumineers. She was with the band from the years 2010 to 2018. And in case you have no idea who The Lumineers are, then do not worry because we are here to fill you all in!
The Lumineers’ founding members are Wesley Schultz (lead vocals, guitar), Jeremiah Fraites (drums, percussion, piano), and Neyla Pekarek (cellist and vocalist).
It was upon finishing her degree in music education, that Pekarek casually responded to a Craigslist ad posted by Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites, and then soon enough became a member of one of the greatest folk rock bands of all time.
Sadly, on Oct. 18, 2018, she announced that she was leaving The Lumineers, but luckily, she will never let her amazing singing voice go to waste. Besides singing for the band, she has also thoroughly enjoys singing barbershop music competitively as a member of the Sweet Adelines International, as well as conducting musical training workshops with school-children in Colorado.
