Mike Tyson is seen at the USTA Foundation Opening Night Gala in New York on Aug. 28, 2017. The boxing legend sported a black pinstripe suit as he snapped a photo on the blue carpet, opting to leave his white spirt open without a tie!
Michael Gerard Tyson was born on June 30, 1966 in New York City. After losing his mother at just 16, Mike lived with boxing trainer Cus D’Amato who introduced him to the sport. He rose to prominence in the mid-1980s, and at just 20 years old, became the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title. He went on to also be the undisputed world heavyweight champion, and fought a number of other superstar boxers, including Evander Holyfield multiple times. The pair were involved in perhaps the biggest scandal involving the sport when Mike was disqualified for biting Evanders’ ears in a 1997 match. Mike eventually stepped back from the sport in 2005, but in 2020 — nearly 15 years later — admitted that he was thinking about stepping back into the ring for charity and fundraising matches.
Mike has married several times, including to his first-wife, actress Robin Givens. He’s also a father to seven children.
