Michael Schumacher is one of the greatest F1 racers of all-time, but he’s been very private since suffering a ski accident in 2013.
Michael Schumacher secured his place in Formula 1 history with seven championship titles to his name. He’s tied for most championships with fellow racer Lewis Hamilton. When he retired from racing in 2012, he held multiple records for wins, pole positions, and podium finishes. While those records have been broken, he has held onto the title for total fastest laps, with 77.
After Michael’s retirement, he suffered a skiing accident in 2013, which led to a severe brain injury, and he was in a medically induced coma until June 2014. Since his injury, his family has mostly kept private about his condition and his recovery. While the family has mostly receded from public life, fellow former driver Johnny Herbert did offer a brief update in January 2024, revealing that Michael can join his family to “sit at the table for dinner.”
