Meija — Pics — First tasting fame as part of Echosmith, Jamie Sierota departed from the band in 2016. After developing his snyth-drenched indie pop adjacent brand of rock, Jamie emerged as a talented songwriter, penning tracks for Adam Lambert and others. In 2019, he emerged as Meija, his brand new producer/songwriter/performer guise. He christened the project with ‘So Long, Kid,’ his first EP. Written about “growing up and facing the new realities that come with it,” Meija says his debut recording is all about realizing that innocence doesn’t last forever. “As a kid you don’t have to worry about commitment, politics or like how you’re going to pay rent. It’s quite the culture shock when you have to though. I don’t want to lose that youthful spirit that we all have as kids.”

Meija Ponders The World — “I tend to talk too much when I’m in conflict with someone,” he tells HollywoodLife about “I Already Said I Love You.” “Especially in a romantic relationship. I’ll just say ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m sorry’ almost as a knee-jerk reaction sometimes. Words lose their meaning when you overuse them and I’m definitely guilty of that. Saying ‘I love you’ could sometimes be said in place of actually showing it.”

Meija Views The World — “I never had any personal interaction with [Prince] but have always been a fan,” he tells HollywoodLife. “He has such a strong and independent spirit as an artist that I find really inspiring.”

Meija Vs. The Dessert — “I’m a bit of politics nerd,” he tells HollywoodLife. “I love listening to podcasts and trying to understand how people work and think even when I disagree with them strongly. It informs my writing along with things like love, growing up, etc.”

Meija And All The Thoughts Of The Universe — “I decided to go with the name Meija because the project felt so close,” he tells HollywoodLife. “I had been working on a lot of other people’s projects over the past few years and finally decided to work on a project that was just me.”

Meija Will Just Hang Out Here — “Yeah, I love experimenting with different sounds and am also a big thrifter,” he tells HollywoodLife. “I’m always stopping by my local Goodwill to see what I could find. A lot of the instruments used on EP were found in thrift shops or sidewalk sales.”
