Matt Caughthran is best known as the singer for the Los Angeles-based punk band The Bronx. The band formed in 2002, with Matt, drummer Jorma Vik, bassist James Tweedy, and guitarist Joby J. Ford. The group quickly developed a buzz, with Def Jam/Island offering them a deal after The Bronx’s twelfth performance. Instead of signing with a major, The Bronx released several recordings on its own label, forging its path before signing with the big leagues. In 2009, Matt and the group unveiled Mariachi El Bronx, a mariachi-variant that played traditional Latin music. Matt is also involved in a number of side projects, including The Drips, another punk band. Since 2021, Matt has been involved with Sailor Jerry as the host of The Sailor Jerry Podcast. On the show, Matt interviews stars from the world of music, art, tattoos, and bartending. Matt himself is covered in tattoos, his first being the logo of iconic hardcore punk band, Black Flag.
