March For Our Lives is one of the many important social movements that has developed over the past few years. A social movement is a loosely organized effort by a large group of people to achieve a particular goal, whether it be social or political.
March For Our Lives in particular was a student-led demonstration that supported legislation to prevent gun violence in the United States. In 2018, there were a total of 340 mass shootings in the United States. (That means there were nearly as many shootings as days in the year) Furthermore, there were a total of 373 people who died from the mass shootings and 1,346 others who were injured.
Naturally, this streak of mass shootings, particularly the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, propelled the big social movement against gun violence.
March For Our Lives was planned by Never Again MSD and took place in Washington, D.C. on March 24, 2018.
