Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli were thrust into the spotlight in 2019 when they were named in ‘Operation Varsity Blues,’ a nation-wide college admissions scandal. Along with Felicity Huffman, Lori and Mossimo were the most famous names netted in the massive sting. Lori and Moss were accused of spending $500,000 in bribes to William Rick Singer, the alleged mastermind behind the operation. Singer, who controlled tow firms involved in the scheme, allegedly arranged to have their two daughters accepted into the University of Southern California as members of the rowing team, despite neither having played the sport. Mossimo and Lori with hit with federal programs bribery, conspiracy to commit money laundering, conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. Though they fought the charges throughout 2019, they ultimately pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and mail fraud in May 2020. Prosecutors recommended that Moss serve five months in prison, with Lori getting two.
