Lauren Ash — HollywoodLife was thrilled to welcome Lauren Ash, superstar actress from ‘Superstore’ and ‘She-Ra,’ to meet with our New York City team to discuss the future of her two hit shows. Lauren, who is best know for playing Dina, the gruff, but loveable associate manager at Cloud 9 on ‘Superstore,’ chatted with us on the big changes coming in the final episodes of season 4 in the coming weeks. Hilarious and charming, Lauren also gave Hollywoodlifers a sneak peek at the upcoming new season of Netflix’s animated series ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.’ Check out these incredible springtime portraits, shot on a NYC rooftop overlooking the beautiful city, along with excerpts from our incredible interview.

Lauren Ash — Originally from Ontario, Canada, Lauren has made a name for herself as one of the funniest women on TV. Rebel Wilson fans will recognize Lauren from the ABC show ‘Super Fun Night’, but most will recognize Lauren for her role as Dina Fox on the long-running, workplace comedy ‘Superstore’ on NBC.

Lauren Ash — While visiting HollywoodLife, Lauren was celebrating the recent renewal of ’Superstore,’ that was just picked up for a milestone fifth season. We asked Lauren how she celebrated the news, and she shared she’ll be ‘putting things’ into the beautiful house she bought after the show was picked up for season 4. ‘[Season 6] is when we’ll take the Tahiti trip,” she shared.

Lauren Ash — ‘Superstore’ follows the lives of the dedicated people working in a big box store in St. Louis, Missouri. Lauren plays the assistant store manager, who early on flip flops between intensely confrontational to severely loyal. Her storyline took an unexpected turn when she agreed to be the surrogate mother for her boss, Glenn, and his wife Jerusha.

Lauren Ash — “I was pregnant for roughly 85 years. So I was very excited when I got to give birth to that baby,” Lauren joked of her pregnancy storyline on ‘Superstore.’ “It was literally like I was carrying an elephant,” she added on wearing the large, baby bump bodysuit.

Lauren Ash — With ‘Superstore’ being picked up for a fifth season, Lauren is thinking ahead to what she’d like to see happen to Dina. On the top of her list — meeting all the people that Dina has beef with, like her rival Colleen at the competing Bellridge Cloud 9 store.

Lauren Ash — Lauren also agreed that season 5 would be the perfect time for ‘Superstore’ to finally have a musical episode, something fans have been campaigning for basically since day one.

Lauren Ash — Lauren confessed that co-star Ben Feldman would be the only person hesistant to the idea of singing on the show, despite beating Lauren in a recent episode of ‘Lip-Sync Battle’. “He has the belt in his home. His name is on it. I was like, ‘That’s just a knife in my eye,'” she joked.

Lauren Ash — As for what’s next, Lauren is gearing up for the return of “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” The second season hits Netflix on April 26th.

Lauren Ash — Aside from the show’s return, the ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’ teams is also celebrating its first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Casting for an Animated Series or Special, which will be awarded during the 2019 Creative Arts Daytime Emmy Awards.

Lauren Ash — On ‘She-Ra,’ Lauren plays Scorpia, the Horde loyalist, eager to protect and help Catra in her evil doings. Though she works for a dark cause, this henchperson is far more lovable than the originally conceived character. Think Kronk from ‘Emperor’s New Groove’!

Lauren Ash — Lauren told Hollywoodlife that ‘She-Ra’ will have a special episode in season 2 that will pay homage to the original 80’s cartoon, with a hilarious throwbacks to the original costumes that defintiely don’t fit into this reboot world.

Lauren Ash — With her strong comedic background, Lauren admits that she does quite a bit of improvising on both of her shows, even on ‘She-Ra’. “Early on I started improvising… you don’t want to step on toes, so I kind of started throwing things in, and they would laugh and were like, ‘That’s hilarious.’ And then I was like, ‘I’m gonna until you tell me to stop.'”

Lauren Ash — Lauren, enjoying the rooftop view of NYC, also shared how wonderful it is to work with a predominately female creative team on ‘She-Ra.’ “I love the company of women, it’s so rare,” she said. “I spent so many years in my career where that hasn’t been the case so it does feel nice.”
