Thousands of fans gather outside Staples Center after the death of Laker legend Kobe Bryant, in Los Angeles on January 26, 2020. 

Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26, 2020. The NBA icon and his second eldest daughter were traveling on his private Sikorsky S-76 chopper to a travel basketball game when it crashed and burst into flames in the hills of Calabasas, California. Kobe was known for traveling via helicopter throughout his NBA career. In his 20 years playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe was known to take the chopper from Newport Beach, California to the Staples Center for home games with the team. Kobe is survived his wife Vanessa, whom he married in 2001, and three of their four daughters, Natalia, Bianca and Capri. Countless celebrities and athletes paid tribute to the Oscar-winning athlete, as well as sports leagues around the globe. Kobe, who was 41 when he died, had recently began the second chapter of his life following his decorated NBA career. He was working on multiple projects, including mentoring other athletes, at the time of his death.
