Katy Mixon Visits HollywoodLife — Actress Katy Mixon visited HollywoodLife.com to discuss season 4 of her amazing show American Housewife. The ABC sitcom follows Katy Mixon as Katy Otto, the matriarch of the Otto family who resides in wealthy Westport, Connecticut. In its fourth season, the show continues to explore Katy’s handling of her three children, who she tries to keep “as normal as possible” amongst their priveledged and spoiled peers. Katy’s teen, Taylor, is played by Meg Donnelly; her middle son, Oliver, is portrayed by Daniel DiMaggio; and Katy’s youngest (and favorite), Ana-Kat, is hysterically portrayed by Julia Butters. Diedrich Bader stars as Katy’s tenured husband Greg, who is an involved father and husband.

On Season 4 Of ‘American Housewife’ — “The writers are so wonderful, and they’re trying to find Katy Otto’s purpose. So Katy is kind of in a different situation because her kids are not babies anymore. They’re growing up. They don’t need her as much. So she’s like, ‘Oh, what’s my passion?’ And she didn’t really care for doing the whole event planning. She had to answer to somebody. It was a whole situation. It just wasn’t a true thing that she enjoyed, so now she’s enjoying lasagna, and she’s baking it out of her home, and she is making it for all of Westport. But she is beginning to start her home business and she’s coming alive.”

On Working With Kelly Ripa — “.” I absolutely adored her. She was so precious. We shot all of her scenes in one day because she’s so busy. We did it on a Friday, and we must’ve shot, I don’t know, for 15 hours and she was just lovely. She was so precious and generous and so funny. I adore her.”

On Katy Otto vs. The Women Of Westport — “I think what is so interesting is, everybody deals with insecurities, no matter what background you come from and no matter where you are. And I think what is so interesting about her is she believes in herself. She’s a real firecracker, but yet, there is a sense of you always want to feel somewhat accepted, right? Westport is her home, and so she does kind of want that and long for that in a way. But I think what is so cool about her is that in the end, it’s all right. She doesn’t have to be them. She doesn’t have to look like them.”
