John Forbes Nash Jr., born June 13, 1928, was an American mathematician whose work contributed to studies on chance, game play and more. John won the Nobel Memorial Prize for Economic Sciences for his immense contributions to mathematics. He shared the honor with game theorists Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi.
John’s life was depicted in the 2001 Oscar-winning film ‘A Beautiful Mind.’ Actor Russell Crowe played nash during his time at Princeton. The film went on to win four Oscars, including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Jennifer Connelly), Best Director (Ron Howard), and Best Picture. Russell Crowe earned an Oscar nomination for his work as the famed mathematician.
