Luke James — The soul of funk is alive in 2020, thanks to Luke James. The Grammy-nominated R&B singer, also known for his action appearances in ‘Insecure’ and ‘The Chi, released his album ‘to feel love/d’ and he swung by HollywoodLife to talk about its creation, how he connected with Prince before the icon’s passing, and more.

Yo Gotti

Yo Gotti — ‘I think a lot of the things I’ve accomplished in the last year, year-and-a-half, and a lot of the experiences, the things I’ve been dealing with, those are the messages on this album,’ Yo Gotti says of his 2020 release, ‘Untrapped.’ ‘All my music is the expression of what I’m going through in life.’

Tenille Arts

Tenille Arts — ‘With this album there were actually a couple of songs that I wrote completely by myself,’ Tenille Arts tells HollywoodLife about ‘Love, Heartbreak & Everything In Between,’ ‘and those were just extremely honest and exactly what I felt, I wrote them in like 30 minutes. I would normally keep that stuff to myself, but I decided to send it to my publisher and a few other people, and they just fell in love with it.’

Louis York — ‘Music is birthed out of pain,’ Claude Kelly, one half of music duo Louis York told HollywoodLife. ‘It was birthed out of our depression, our frustration, our wanting to inspire people and get connected to people again.’

John K. — ‘We literally built this thing from the ground up and just started releasing music independently,’ John K tells HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY about his music and band, ‘and every now and then we’d meet somebody that we really vibed with energy-wise, personality-wise. We invited them into the team and we grew it brick by brick, step-by-step.’

FredRarrii — ‘I just feel like, a lot of people say I don’t sound like I’m from Miami,’ says FredRarrii to HollywoodLife. ‘They say I sound from the A. I got all type of flows, all type of swag, however you want it. So don’t really know how to define that one right there, but I do know what Florida lacking on. We need to support each other.’

Ilan Rubin of The New Regime

Ilan Rubin of The New Regime — ‘I’m constantly looking towards something else that excites me,’ Ilan Rubin of The New Regime told HollywoodLife, ‘and even though this album [‘Heart Mind Body & Soul’] isn’t completely on it, I’ve written five or six other songs that are recorded in between these last tours and they sound completely different. That’s just the way I’ve always worked. I’ve never understood the desire to sort of pigeonhole yourself or say okay, ‘I’m a rock band so I’m going to write 12 rock songs,’ or I’m this and I’m going to write 12 of that. I don’t do that. I’ve never seen the point.’
