Let’s try this again… February 2nd means it’s another Groundhog Day. While many are looking out for Punxsutawney Phil’s shadow as their winter forecast, others will be celebrating with a screening of the 1993 comedy classic Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray. In the movie, Bill plays a cynical TV weatherman who gets caught in a time-loop, forcing him to relive the day on repeat. He eventually falls for his producer Rita, played by Andie MacDowell, and tries to figure out if he can use the time-trap to seduce her. No spoilers… things don’t really go as planned.
The movie was a box-office success, earning over $105 million to become one of 1993’s biggest blockbusters. Groundhog Day also earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
