When the show picks up, the doctors at Grey Sloan are facing the COVID-19 pandemic head-on about one month after it began. The doctors are pushed to their limits as they try to save patients and keep themselves healthy. As the pandemic rages on, developments in the doctors’ personal lives continue. Amelia and Link are raising their baby boy, who they name Scout Derek Shepherd Lincoln. They are not working at the hospital during the pandemic initially because they are on leave. Teddy learns her colleagues know more than she may like about her relationship woes with Owen, and Richard and Koracick go at it. At the end of the premiere, Meredith collapses in the middle of the parking lot. When she wakes up, she’s on a beach and Derek is in the distance.
