Eminem is an American rapper whose real name is Marshall Mathers. He made his debut on the hip-hop scene with his 1996 album, and rose to fame after signing to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records in 1999. Over the years, Eminem has produced a lot of controversial material. Many of his songs tell the story of his troubled childhood, as well as his tense relationship with his parents. From 2005-2009, Eminem took a hiatus from the music industry as he dealt with a prescription drug addiction. In addition to his music, Eminem is also known for starring in the 2002 film, ‘8 Mile,’ which is about his life. He won an Academy Award for writing the song, “Lose Yourself,” for the movie. As of 2020, Eminem has also won 15 Grammy Awards, and is one of the best-selling artists of all-time. Eminem has one daughter, Hailie, with his ex, Kim Scott, who he started dating in 1989.
