And it’s no wonder why the star, who celebrates his birthday on March 25, loves fashion. Through the years the five-time Grammy-winner has taken the stage across the globe, meaning he’s needed more than a few excellent ensembles to go with.

The glam-rock icon has never shied away from glitz, often opting for feathers, fur, and sparkling fabrics. And of course, how can we forget his legendary sunglasses? Through his daring looks, he’s inspired a generation of performers to embrace their wild sides, both on stage and off.

Here, Elton John dresses to the nines to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He matched his star in a golden suit, with a matching hat and platforms for the ceremony, which took place in Nov. 1975.
