Donald Trump Calls Women ‘Nasty’ — United States President Donald Trump has a favorite word he uses to insult women: nasty. It’s generally reserved for women in positions of power who he feels threatened by, and lobbed in response to them criticizing him in literally any capacity. Most recently, Trump used the word to insult Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, for calling his desire to purchase Greenland from Denmark “absurd.” He cancelled a state trip to Denmark, then insulted her to reporters after hearing that. In addition to Frederiksen, he’s called the following women “nasty” — so far: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Duchess Meghan Markle, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Kamala Harris, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and San Juan, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz. Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton — The OG. Trump first made his “nasty woman” remark during an October 2016 presidential debate with Hillary Clinton. The former Secretary of State made a joke about Trump refusing to pay his taxes, and he talked over her to yell “what a nasty woman” into his mic.

Nancy Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi — Trump called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a “nasty, vindictive, horrible person” in June 2019 because she said she’d rather see him in jail than be impeached.

Mette Frederiksen

Mette Frederiksen — Trump said that Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen made a “nasty and inappropriate statement” when she said that his desire to purchase Greenland was “absurd” in August 2019. He cancelled a state trip to Denmark over this.

Meghan Markle — Trump called Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, nasty in May 2019 after finding out that she called him “misogynistic” and “divisive” during a 2016 interview. This happened years before she became royalty.

Elizabeth Warren — When he’s not calling Senator Elizabeth Warren “Pocahontas” for claiming Native American heritage, Trump uses “nasty” to insult the 2020 presidential candidate. As he tweeted in June 2016, “Pocahontas is at it again! Goofy Elizabeth Warren, one of the least productive US Senators, has a nasty mouth. Hope she is VP choice.”

Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris — After Senator Kamala Harris grilled Attorney General William Barr during a Mueller Report hearing in May 2019, Trump called her “nasty” in two different interviews. That included saying she had “a little bit of a nasty wit,” whatever that means.

Carmen Yulín Cruz

Carmen Yulín Cruz — Trump went after the Mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carmen Yulín Cruz, after she criticized his lack of response to Hurricane Maria. He tweeted on September 30, 2017: “The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.” She responded by wearing a “nasty” t-shirt during a televised interview.
