If you want to rock? If you’re not going to take it anymore? If you live under the blade, and are the leader of the pack, then chances are you’re a fan of Dee Snider. The heavy metal icon, best known for fronting Twisted Sister, has been a fixture of hard rock and metal since the late 1970s and continues to be one of the genre’s most recognizable voices. Born in Queens and raised in nearby Baldwin, Long Island, Dee joined Twisted Sister in 1976. The group experienced their biggest success in 1984 with the release of ‘Stay Hungry,’ an album featuring such classics as ‘We’re Not Going To Take It,’ and ‘I Wanna Rock.’ During that time, Dee also established himself as a champion of free speech, testifying at a 1985 Senate hearing that proposed a parental warning system that would label offensive music. Dee is also a well-versed actor, appearing in movies like ‘Strangeland’ and ‘The History of Future Folk.’ He also hosts ‘The House of Hair,’ a syndicated 1980s hard rock/heavy metal show.

Jamie Jasta, one of the things [he said] when he talked me into doing a contemporary record [‘For The Love Of Metal’] in the first place, he said, ‘Your voice has a place in that Pantheon with Dio, with Ozzy, with Halford.” And I was just like, I’m like, ‘dude, first of all, you’re talking about guys whose posters are on my wall. So how can I stand amongst them? I went to their shows. They didn’t go to my shows.’ He goes, ‘Look,  You just have that voice. And you’ve taken on that role. And we’re losing a lot of these greats. We’ve lost Lemmy and we’ve lost Ronnie. And we need all those voices we can find.’ So yeah, he sort of, he drafted me.”
