She became a well-known child star thanks to her breakout role opposite Sean Penn in 2001’s ‘I Am Sam.’ She received a Screen Actor’s Guild Award nomination for her performance, becoming at eight-years-old the youngest nominee in SAG history. She continued to be one of Hollywood’s most in-demand child actors with roles in 2003’s ‘The Cat in the Hat’ and ‘Uptown Girls,’ 2004’s ‘Man on Fire,’ with Denzel Washington, 2005’s Steven Spielberg sci-fi thriller ‘War of the Worlds’ opposite Tom Cruise, and ‘Charlotte’s Web’ in 2006.

The actress was then well into her teens and transitioned into more mature roles. In 2008 she played the lead role of Lily Owens in the film version of the popular novel ‘The Secret Life of Bees.’ She also played Jane Volturi in three of the ‘Twilight’ franchises: ‘New Moon,’ ‘Eclipse,’ and Breaking Dawn Part 2.’ By 2009, she cemented herself as a Hollywood power player by nabbing the number three spot on ‘Forbes’ Most Valuable Young Stars list, raking in career earnings of an estimated $14 million.

Dakota went on to star opposite Kristen Stewart in 2010’s ‘The Runaways’ about the trailblazing all-female rock band. Since then she has primarily worked in indepdenent films, while taking on the occasional blockbuster, as she played Squeaky Frome in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.’ In 2018 she took on her first big TV role, playing Sarah Howard in TNT’s period crime drama ‘The Alienist.”

Dakota can always be counted on to slay on the red carpets, while blowing fans away with her amazing performances.
