Keith Urban Opens The 2022 CMT Music Awards

The CMT Awards are finally here! The star-studded event kicked off on April 11 at 8 PM ET on CBS, and despite the pouring rain, country music’s biggest stars were dressed to the nines. While host Kelsea Ballerini was forced to back out last minute after testing positive for COVID-19, Kane Brown stepped in to co-host with actor Anthony Mackie! In between announcing award winners for this year’s best music videos, top-charting country stars took the stage at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium to perform. Carly Pearce, Carrie Underwood, Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean and more shared their latest hits, while Kenny Chesney closed out the show!

Kelsea Ballerini unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 and had to back out of her co-host obligations alongside Anthony Mackie for the CMT Music Awards! Luckily, Kane Brown stepped in to save the day! However, Thomas Rhett and Martina McBride both tried to shoot their shot and host, before Kane agreed he was the one to do the job in the opening monologue.
