Celebs Fighting To Ensure The Future Is Female — PICS

The #MeToo Movement against sexual harassment and sexual abuse went viral in 2017, as women began publicly sharing their stories of sexual assault to spread awareness. The movement gained exposure due to allegations made against Harvey Weinstein of that year. Since then, dozens of celebrities have come forward with their stories, and so many others have proudly and publicly supported them.

The women at the forefront of this movement have continued their fight to give women a voice in America. Actress Louisette Geiss is one of the women who has been vocal in the #MeToo movement. She has opened up about her decision to leave Hollywood after being told she would not be able to sell a screenplay if she did not watch Weinstein masturbate first.

Aly Raisman is an American gymnast who has publicly spoken out about the abuse she faced at the hands former U.S. Gymnastics team doctor, Larry Nassar. Aly bravely spoke at Larry’s trial in Jan. 2020, and he was sentenced to 175 years in a Michigan state prison.

In 2018, she did not hold back when she insisted that Casey Affleck should be banned from presenting at that year’s Oscars due to previous sexual misconduct allegations against him.
