These celebrities either claimed they’d move or reportedly wanted to leave America if Donald Trump became president.

Before Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S. presidential election, multiple celebrities threatened to move out of the country. While most of them didn’t follow through with their word, the 2024 election has brought their past statements into question. So, will any of them actually leave America now that Donald has been elected a second time?

Miley Cyrus is one of the most famous names who initially claimed she’d leave the states in 2016. However, following Donald’s election, she encouraged fans to give him a chance in an emotional social media video at the time.

Click through the gallery to see which celebrities said they’d leave the U.S. if Trump was elected.

Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, moved to a rural section of the U.K. and “plan to never return to the United States” because of Trump’s re-election, The Wrap reported on November 20, 2024.

Neither Ellen nor Portia has publicly commented on the report.

During a November 2024 interview with Marie Claire, she revealed she was not living in the U.S. full-time anymore. While she decided to do this before the election, the actress noted that the results further encouraged her decision.

“I’m privileged,” Eva acknowledged. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them. … I had my whole adult life here. But even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge.”

“F**k America. I’m f**king renouncing my citizenship,” he said, per Newsweek. “There’s too much f**king stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f**king excuse for a country.”
