Billy Porter – Pics — In 2018 Billy Porter became a household name when he starred in the FX drama series ‘Pose.’ The Pittsburgh-native quickly won over TV viewers with his portrayal of ballroom MC Pray Tell and, in September 2019, he walked away with a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Billy made history by becoming the first openly gay black man to win the award. His acceptance speech – which had his peers on their feet – was also a big hit and was soon shared widely on social media. Quoting the late novelist and playwright James Baldwin, Billy said, “It took many years of vomiting up all the filth that I had been taught about myself, and halfway believed, before I could walk around this earth like I had the right to be here.”

A lover of fashion, Billy has also made a name for himself with his bold style choices, including working the 2019 Academy Awards red carpet in a dress.
