While the Grammy-winner is known for her unique, soft voice and baggy fashion, Billie’s signature hair cut and color — a mid-length choppy dark do’ with neon green top highlights — has become a beauty staple to her fans. Just before 2021, Billie took to social media to set the record straight about her hairstyle, which has been widely labeled as a mullet. The singer revealed that she initially got the choppy during a haircut-gone-wrong. When a fan asked Billie to share a photo of “The most f–ked your hair’s been,” she shared a video of herself pulling short strands of hair from the top layer of her locks, near her scalp. Billie captioned the clip with: “don’t trust just anyone who says they’re good with color [sic] my hair continued to (f)all out in chunks for the next two months after this.” Billie’s hair breakage, which resulted in her now famous (mullet) haircut, occurred sometime in late 2019, since she first stepped out with the hairstyle at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles on November 4, 2019.
