Located in the heart of South Congress’ famed strip of restaurants, clubs, and shops, Austin Motel is considered a beloved, quintessential part of the city’s authentic history. Operating as a motel since 1938, the property features 41 rooms, a bar, 50’s-style outdoor pool, and modern conveniences all set amidst classic midcentury roadside motel architecture that reflects the property’s long and unique history.
This Christmas, the property introduces the Winter Wanderland! Have a jolly time taking in the twinkly sights and spirit of our courtyard and pool. Wander amongst the trees, grab a drink (or two), and experience Austin Motel’s Winter Wanderland from December 1 to 26 with extra festive activities Thursday through Sunday.
Now operated by celebrated hospitality company Bunkhouse, the property’s newest chapter melds its uniquely Texas spirit, reflected in the original bones and iconic neon signage, with Bunkhouse’s authentic flare and distinctive design touch.
Under the company’s design direction, the refresh of the property includes collaborations with several local vendors including
landscaping by Mark Word Design, a pool bar by Jack Sanders and Design Build Adventure, and custom woodwork by Enabler. Each of
the motel’s 41 rooms are playful in their aesthetic and boast a colorful, yet refined, design with custom vinyl tufted beds reminiscent of the iconic sign, long wall-mounted golden wood desks with burgundy laminate, and 1950’s-inspired seating. Spirited touches pepper the guestrooms, from wall willy robe hooks by Eric Trine, classic push-button phones and vintage silkscreened music posters.
