Andrew Cuomo — Andrew Cuomo has been the governor of New York since 2011. He was elected for his third term in 2018, and he became a national figure during his third term due to his response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to becoming governor, the Democratic politician served in a number of different political offices.

Cuomo held a variety of different offices before running for governor. Before his gubernatorial run, he was the Attorney General of New York, and the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1997 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton. Cuomo was catapulted into the national spotlight in 2020, when New York became a prime focus during the COVID-19 pandemic. He left a strong impression on viewers with his daily briefings about the virus. He

While he initially received much praise for his handling of the virus, he also faced much scrutiny, when investigations into nursing home deaths due to COVID, found that the Cuomo administration had undercounted deaths. In late 2020, women began coming forward who accused the governor of sexually harassing state employees. An independent investigation said that the governor did sexually harass employees, but Cuomo denied the allegations.
