Andre Leon Talley: Photos Of The Fashion Journalist — Andre Leon Talley was a beloved figure in the fashion world who once served as the creative director for Vogue magazine and also as a judge for ‘America’s Next Top Model’. A singular voice in fashion, Andre was a true force to be reckoned with in the industry, pushing boundaries and always bringing a certain joie de vivre to his work.

The fashion journalist, who was born in Washington, D.C. and was raised by his grandmother in North Carolina, always had a taste for the finer things and longed to live a life of luxury. After receiving a B.A. and M.A. in French literature, Andre moved to New York City and first apprenticed with former Vogue editor Diana Vreeland at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, then moving on to publications like Interview, W, and Women’s Wear Daily. In addition to putting his French skills to task as the Paris bureau chief at WWD, he also served as creative director and subsequent editor-at-large for Vogue, pushing boundaries for people of color in the industry and serving as an inspiration for outsiders who feverishly pursued their passions.
