She grew up in New Canaan, CT an is the daughter of former NBC Nightly News anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams and TV producer Jane Gillan Stoddard. Brian is currently an anchor at MSNBC. She attended Yale University and was a member of the school’s improv comedy troupe. Allison got her first big acting break in 2010 when Judd Apatow cast her to play Marnie Michaels on the HBO show ‘Girls.’ In 2014 she starred in NBC’s live musical presentation ‘Peter Pan Live!’ She had her breakout film role in Jordan Peele’s horror/psychologial thriller ‘Get Out.” Allison began dating Ricky Van Veen, who co-founded comedy brand/website College Humor as well as the video platform Vimeo, in 2011 after meeting at a ‘Bachelor’ viewing party. They got engaged in 2014 and wed in a star-studded ceremony in Sept. of 2015 at Brush Creek Ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming. Tom Hanks served as the officiant and guests included her co-stars from ‘Girls,’ NBC late night host Seth Meyer and then couple Katy Perry and John Mayer. On June 27, 2019 the couple announced they were separating after nearly 4 years of marriage.
