A League Of Their Own cast photo in 1992 — Batter up! Hear that call! It’s been 30 years since the hit film ‘A League Of Their Own’ hit theaters in 1992, and all these years later, the massive hit film is now being turned into a TV series!

While the new series features TV stars like Nick Offerman and Abbie Jacobson, the original film was a star studded masterpiece, with actors like Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, Madonna, and Rosie O’Donnell bringing all the thrills of the first professional all-female baseball league to the big screen.

Directed by the late, great Penny Marshall, the film also starred talents like Ann Cusack, Patti Pelton, and Lori Petty, who became synonymous for their roles in the film. It even featured a cameo by Penny’s brother Garry, as the publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey who funds the league.

After the role, he went on to achieve even more success with a lot of famous films, including ‘Sleepless in Seattle,’ ‘Forrest Gump,’ ‘Apollo 13,’ ‘Toy Story,’ ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ ‘You’ve Got Mail,’ ‘The Green Mile,’ ‘The Polar Express,’ ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,’ and more. He’s also starrred in several televison shows and is considered on of the most famous and talented actors of all time.

Madonna as Mae

Madonna as Mae — Madonna played baseball player Mae Mordabito in the film.

Since then, she released several albums in her successful music career and starred in a few other features, including ‘Evita,’ ‘The Next Best Thing,’ and ‘Arthur and the Invisibles.’ She’s also released various documentaries focused on her life and career. As of 2022, the talented songstress is still releasing albums and touring.

Rosie O’Donnell as Doris

Rosie O’Donnell as Doris — Rosie O’Donnell played baseball player Doris Murphy in the film and is the first of the original cast to be confirmed a cameo in the upcoming Amazon TV adaptation series!

Rosie became a success through other comedy, other films, and television. She hosted her own talk show, ‘The Rosie O’Donnell Show,’ in which she welcomed various celebrities and interviewed them Her show was very popular with kids as well. She went on to become a co-host on ‘The View’ from 2006-2007. The series in which she played recurring roles, included ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ ‘Nip/Tuck,’ ‘The Fosters,’ and ‘SMILF.’

Lori Petty as Kit

Lori Petty as Kit — Lori Petty played Dottie’s little sister Kit Keller in the film.

She went on to star in other films such as ‘Free Willy,’ ‘Tank Girl,’ and ‘Broken Arrows.’ She also starred in the television series ‘Orange is the New Black’ from 2014 until 2019. She also made her directorial debut with the 2008’s film, ‘The Poker House.’

Jon Lovitz as scout Ernie

Jon Lovitz as scout Ernie — Jon Lovitz played Ernie Capadino, AAGPBL scout in the film.

He has led a successful career as both a film and television actor and has a long list of credits over the years. Some of his films include ‘Coneheads,’ ‘Matilda,’ ‘The Wedding Singer,’ ‘The Stepford Wives,’ ‘A Mouse Tale,’ and ‘Holiday Twist.’ Television series he’s starred in include ‘The Critic,’ ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘NewsRadio,’ ‘Animals.,’ and the game show, ‘Funny You Should Ask.’

Bitty Schram as Evelyn — Bitty Schram played baseball player Evelyn Gardner.

She has since starred in other films and shows, including ‘The Night We Never Met,’ ‘Chasers,’ ‘Marvin’s Room,’ ‘One Fine Day,’ ‘Felicity,’ ‘Monk,’ and ‘Moments of Clarity.’

Garry Marshall as AAGPBL founder Walter

Garry Marshall as AAGPBL founder Walter — Garry Marshall played AAGPBL founder and candy bar mogul Walter Harvey in he film.

He was involved in ‘A League of Their Own’ spin-off series in 1993 and also starred in many films and television series, including ‘Hocus Pocus,’ ‘Dear God,’ ‘Hole in the Paper Sky,’ ‘Never Been Kissed,’ and ‘Finding Bliss,’ before his death in 2016. He’s also worked as a director.

Some of the features he’s directed include ‘Runaway Bride,’ ‘The Princess Diaries,’ ‘Valentine’s Day,’ and ‘New Year’s Eve.’ He passed away on July 19, 2016.
