The Oct. 4 episode of Bachelor in Paradise ended with Rodney Mathews hoping to ask Teddi Wright on a one-on-one date. Unbeknownst to him, though, Teddi had already decided to leave the show after failing to form a connection with Andrew Spencer. However, if Rodney isn’t too heartbroken over Teddi leaving, he’ll find out that several of the other women also have their eyes on him!
Once Rodney arrived on the beach, various women expressed interest in The Bachelorette alum. We’ll have to wait and see how he handles Teddi’s exit and what happens in the aftermath, though. Ahead of the Oct. 10 episode, learn more about Rodney below:
1. What Happened To Rodney On ‘The Bachelorette’?
Rodney was first introduced to Bachelor Nation as a contestant on Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette, which aired in the fall of 2021. Michelle formed a connection with Rodney quickly, and gave him a one-on-one date early on, in week three. Rodney made it all the way to week 7, hometown dates, but was eliminated at that rose ceremony. Rodney’s plans to appear on Bachelor in Paradise were teased during the Men Tell All special, where he also said he wished Michelle the best and ended their relationship on amicable terms.
2. What Is Rodney’s Job?
Before appearing as a contestant on The Bachelorette, Rodney worked as an Outside Sales Representative for Cinta in California. He was with the company since May 2018. The company assists other businesses with apparel and facility services to prepare for the workday. It’s unclear whether Rodney still holds the position after his time on the show. Before working at Cinta, Rodney spent a year and a half working as an Associate Sales Rep at Smith & Nephew, a medical technology company.
3. Where Did Rodney Go To College?
Rodney got his Associate’s Degree from Citrus College in 2012. He majored in Communication and Media Studies. After two years at Citrus, he transferred to California State University, Fresno, where he majored in Mass Communications and Media Studies. He graduated in 2015.
4. Rodney Was A College Athlete
Rodney was on the football team at Fresno State. He was a Safety. Rodney had a successful high school football career, and was named the All-Sierra League safety during his senior year. After high school, he played at Citrus College. There, he was a first team All-West Conference selection in 2011, as well as a CCCFCA Region IV All-State first team selection in 2012. He was also captain of the team. Rodney transferred to Fresno State in 2013 during his junior year and played two games before suffering a knee injury that ended his football career — and his dreams of heading to the NFL.
5. Faith Is Important To Rodney
Rodney’s Instagram bio reveals that three of the most important things to him are “faith, football and family.”
