Tony Goldwyn and his wife Jane have been married since the 80s. Learn more about her and their marriage below.
Tony Goldwyn began his career in the mid 1980s with movies including Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives and TV shows like St. Elsewhere and Matlock. Through the decades, he’s remained extraordinarily prolific on TV, showing up in Murphy Brown, Lovecraft Country, Frasier, L.A. Law, The L Word, Scandal, and many more. On the big screen, he’s appeared in memorable films including Divergent, Nixon, Ghost, King Richard, and most recently, the Oscar favorite Oppenheimer.
Tony is set to join the cast of Law & Order as Sam Waterston‘s replacement — he’ll make his first appearance on the show as District Attorney Nicholas Baxter on March 14, after Waterston’s final episode of Law & Order airs on February 22. Behind the scenes of his busy career, Tony has been supported by his longtime wife, Jane Musky, since they married in 1987.

The couple met in the 80s and married in April of 1987. Though Jane lives a private life, Tony sometimes gives a peek inside his happy, 36 years long marriage. In a 2014 interview, he shared how he’d surprised her for her 50th birthday. “My wife is impossible to surprise, but for her 50th birthday, I had about 70 friends from all over the world waiting when she walked into the restaurant — she was shocked,” he told Good Housekeeping.
He divulged to Hoda Kotb during an interview in 2019 that they met when he was just 21. “Jane is just the most incredible human being that I know,” he said. “She’s just a very salt of the earth person. And I knew when I was 21 when I met her, I better hang on because I’ll never come across this again.
Tony and Jane are truly a match made in Hollywood. Aside from Tony’s career, he’s also got pedigree — he’s the son of producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr. and the grandson of film mogul Samuel Goldwyn, making him nothing short of entertainment industry royalty. Jane, however, holds her own — she’s a production designer who worked on iconic films including When Harry Met Sally, Hustlers, Mona Lisa Smile, Notorious, and more. She’s also credited as a production designer on Ghost, in which her husband had a role.
The actor and his leading lady share two daughters, Anna and Tess. In his 2014 interview with GH, he opened up about the joys having a family has brought. “My best accomplishment is the time I’ve put into our two daughters,” he told the magazine.
In a 2019 interview with Fatherly, the actor credited Jane with instilling ambition and a strong work ethic in their daughters. “When I was away, she was working hard, long hours, and racing home from work to get home by six so our babysitter could go and she could get dinner on the table,” he said of working on set out of town. “She killed herself to do it. We realized it was a great example for our girls to see that we both work equally hard, and both of my kids are ambitious.”
These days, Tony and Jane seem to be fully enjoying their marriage, and their respective careers. “Now Jane and I are empty nesters, and all of a sudden we can do whatever we want, which is exciting,” he told GH. “We have a Sunday ritual where I make a really great breakfast, like waffles; later we follow it up with a big home-cooked dinner.”
Tony also says he’s simply grateful for the time he has with his talented and beautiful wife. “A ‘guys night out’ for me is…being with my wife!” he told the outlet. “Since I’m at work a lot, I want to be with her when I’m home.” The Law & Order star also says communication is key in their marriage. “It’s all about communication,” he said. “It’s too easy to make assumptions about the people we’re with all the time — what they’re thinking or feeling — without actually talking.”
