Tony Danza, 72, rose to fame on the ABC hit sitcom Who’s the Boss? which aired from 1984-1992. He starred alongside Alyssa Milano and Judith Light, among others, and the show went on to rake in awards nominations, including ten Primetime Emmy nods and five Golden Globe nominations. The show ultimately won one of each.
Tony was always destined for greatness. Previously, he made a name for himself in Taxi between 1978 and 1983, starring opposite comedy legends Danny DeVito, Judd Hirsch, Carol Kane, Marilu Henner, and Andy Kaufman, among others.
But Tony was nowhere near done after his sitcom stints. The affable actor went on to appear in a litany of high-profile film projects, including the 2004 Academy Award best picture winner Crash, 1994’s Angels in the Outfield, 2013’s Don Jon, and many others. He returned to dabble in TV repeatedly, as well.
Behind the scenes, Tony was twice a husband and four times a father, though both marriages have since ended and his children have grown. Here’s everything to know about Tony’s two marriages and divorces.
Tony met Rhonda Yeoman while completing his studies at the University of Dubuque in Iowa, where he’d received a wrestling scholarship. The duo married in 1970, before he’d even earned his bachelor’s degree in 1972. They welcomed their first child, Marc Danza, in 1971, but they divorced just three years later in 1974.
Nearly ten years down the line, however, the couple reconciled and welcomed their second child, daughter Gina Danza, in 1983, per the Los Angeles Times. The former couple finally parted ways for good in 1985.
Tony married celebrity makeup artist Tracy Robinson in 1986, and the pair welcomed their first daughter, Katherine Danza, in 1987. Tracy gave birth to their second daughter, Emily Danza, in 1993. Though few details about their split are known, it took quite a while to make official. They went their separate ways in 2006, filed for divorce in 20011 citing “irreconcilable differences,” and finalized the breakup in 2013, per TMZ.
