Sofia Richie, 22, and Scott Disick, 37, had one of the most high-profile relationships in Hollywood, thanks to their 15-year age difference and the latter’s famous ex, Kourtney Kardashian. Sadly, this romance, which was three years in the making, allegedly came to an end when the two broke up in May 2020. Fans had already been suspicious of a possible breakup since Sofia failed to give Scott a public birthday shout-out on May 26. Let’s look back on their love story:
More Than A Summer Fling
Romance rumors about Scott and Sofia began flying during the summer of 2017. After reports surfaced that they looked cozy on a yacht that May, Sofia, who was just 18 at the time, took to social media to insist the two were just friends. However, another outing in June led to more speculation about the pair’s relationship. At the beginning of September, Scott and Sofia sat next to each other in the front row of the Kith Sport show at New York Fashion Week, and all but verbally confirmed that they were dating.
Love In Miami
Later that month, they took their love to Miami, where they enjoyed dinner with friends. Scott even posted a photo of himself nuzzling Sofia’s neck on Instagram. During the trip, they were spotted strolling on the beach together, and definitely didn’t seem to be hiding the fact that they were an item!
Taking The Romance Overseas
Now that the relationship was out in the open, Scott and Sofia jetted overseas for a romantic vacation to Venice in October 2017. They were photographed on gondola rides together, where they canoodled as paparazzi snapped photographs. On one stroll, Scott even protectively wrapped his arm around Sofia to keep her close to him.
New Year’s In Aspen
Ahead of New Year’s Eve in 2017, Scott and Sofia took their love to Aspen for a snowy vacation. However, later that week, It was actually Kourtney who Scott was spending time with in Colorado. They rang in the New Year together with their kids, and Sofia was nowhere in sight for the family celebrations.
Meeting The Kids Causes Tension
At some point around this time, Scott did introduce Sofia to his kids — Mason, Penelope and Reign — who he shares with Kourtney. In a Sept. 2018 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she admitted she wasn’t happy with his decision to do so without talking to her about it first. Luckily, the exes were able to get past the drama, and Sofia developed a close relationship with all three of Scott’s adorable children.
Split Rumors
During the spring of 2018, rumors swirled that Scott and Sofia had broken up after he was pictured seemingly getting cozy with another woman at Kanye West’s album listening party. However, just days later, he took to Instagram to shoot down the rumors. “We had no idea we even broke up but thanks for thinking of us,” Scott wrote, while Sofia added on her page, “Never believe the Internet.”
Hanging With Kourtney
Throughout 2018, Scott began spending a lot more time with Kourtney for the sake of their kids. Fans were constantly buzzing about whether or not the two would get back together….and what that meant for Sofia. It turned out that Kourtney wasn’t a threat to Scott and Sofia’s relationship, though, and by the end of the year, the three were all hanging out together. The trio had dinner together in November of that year, followed by a pre-holiday vacation with the kids in December. Sofia was invited to the famous KarJenner Christmas Eve party, as well, and after Christmas, they all went to Aspen together.
The Famous Finland Trip
In April 2019, Kourtney planned a trip to Finland with her three kids. She invited Scott to come along, and told him to bring Sofia, as well. The trip was documented for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, marking Sofia’s debut on the show. Although there were some awkward moments, these three proved that they know how to make it work!
A 21st Birthday Surprise
Scott was by Sofia’s side when she turned 21 and celebrated with a lavish party in Las Vegas in 2019. He even spoiled her by gifting her with an Aston Martin for the special occasion. Clearly, the relationship was going strong as Sofia grew up even more in front of our eyes.
Bonding With The Family
That same month, Scott and Sofia jetted to Italy with several members of the KarJenner clan to celebrate Kylie Jenner’s 22nd birthday. Sofia was friends with Kylie and Kendall before she even started dating Scott, but this trip seemed to bring her and Kylie even closer together. She proved that she fit right in with Scott’s chosen family!
Another Holiday Season Together
In 2019, Sofia was once again invited to the KarJenner Christmas Eve party, which actually took place at Kourtney’s house. Then, she and Scott took the kids to Aspen for New Year’s, and she was photographed out and about with the kids. She even bonded with Penelope on the slopes, and they looked too cute in their matching ski outfits.
Going Strong Amidst Coronavirus
Scott and Sofia were going strong when the coronavirus hit the United States in mid-March. By April, they rented a beach house in Malibu so they could spend some time away from the city and enjoy the beach. They were photographed looking quite cozy with one another at the end of April. Just days later, news broke that Scott was spending time in a rehab center to get treatment for his mental health.
It’s Over
The beach pics were the last time that Sofia and Scott were spotted out together. In late May, he went on a vacation with Kourtney and the kids, and returned home just in time for his birthday. The KarJenners threw him a party, but Sofia was nowhere in sight. The next day, reports surfaced that the two had broken up.
