Mrs. Doubtfire is one of those classic films you can watch over and over. Watching Robin Williams‘ incredible transformation into the titular character never gets old. The reason why this movie is so loved is not just because of Robin’s transformation, it’s because the heart of the movie is about the power of family.
Since the movie’s release in 1993, the Hillard kids have really grown up. They’re not kids anymore! Sadly, Robin passed away in 2014, and he is still so deeply missed. Take a trip down memory lane with the Mrs. Doubtfire cast on the 27th anniversary.
Robin Williams
Robin, who played Daniel Hillard and Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire, won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical Comedy for his performance in Mrs. Doubtfire. Just two years after Mrs. Doubtfire, Robin starred in the hit movie Jumanji. In 1997, Robin won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Good Will Hunting. His other notable movies include Patch Adams, One Hour Photo, the Night at the Museum movies, and more.
The beloved actor died by suicide in Aug. 2014. He was 63 years old.
Sally Field
Sally Field, now 74, starred as Miranda Hillard, Daniel’s ex who hires Mrs. Doubtfire. The year following the success of Mrs. Doubtfire, Sally starred in the critically-acclaimed classic Forrest Gump. She returned to television in the role of Maggie on ER in 2000. She won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in 2001. Sally went on to star as Nora Walker in the ABC series Brothers & Sisters, for which she won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2007.
Sally portrayed Aunt May in The Amazing Spider-Man movies and played Mary Todd Lincoln in the Abraham Lincoln biopic in 2012. Sally is also an accomplished stage actor. Her latest role is in the television series Dispatches from Elsewhere.
Mara Wilson
The role of Nattie Hillard was Mara Wilson’s feature film debut. She went on to star in Miracle on 34th Street, Matilda, and A Simple Wish. The child actor quit acting at 13 and went on to graduate from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
The 33-year-old published her memoir, Where Am I Now? True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame, in 2016. She has since returned to acting. Mara made an appearance in a 2016 episode of Broad City. She’s also had recurring voice roles on BoJack Horseman and Big Hero 6: The Series.
Matthew Lawrence
Matthew Lawrence, 40, played Chris Hillard in Mrs. Doubtfire. Just a few years after the movie, he starred alongside his brothers, Joey and Andy Lawrence, in the series Brotherly Love. Matthew’s biggest role was playing Jack Hunter in the series Boy Meets World from 1997 to 2000.
Matthew went on to notably appear alongside Rachel McAdams in The Hot Chick. He reprised the role of Jack Hunter in Boy Meets World spinoff, Girl Meets World, in 2015. He started a band with his brothers called Still Three in 2017.
The actor was engaged to Heidi Mueller from 2004 to 2006. He started dating DWTS pro Cheryl Burke in 2007. They broke up in 2008 but reunited in 2017. They married in 2019.
Lisa Jakub
Lisa Jakub, 41, played the oldest Hillard child, Lydia, in Mrs. Doubtfire. Following the film, she had roles in Independence Day, The Beautician and the Beast, Picture Perfect, and more. Lisa retired from acting in 2001. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Sociology in 2010.
Lisa is married to Jeremy Jones. She has also authored two books: You Look Like That Girl and Not Just Me.
Pierce Brosnan
Pierce Brosnan, 67, starred as Miranda’s new boyfriend, Stu. Following Mrs. Doubtfire, Pierce was cast as the new James Bond. He starred as the iconic character in four films from 1995 to 2002. After Bond, Pierce has had notable roles in The Ghost Writer, The November Man, and the Mamma Mia! movies.
He recently starred alongside Will Ferrell in the 2020 Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. He will play the King in the upcoming Cinderella remake starring Camilla Cabello.
Pierce has been married to Keely Shaye Smith since 2001. They have two sons, Dylan and Paris. Pierce was married before Keely to Cassandra Harris, who died in 1991. They had a son, Sean, together, and Pierce adopted Cassandra’s two other children.
