The Sugarland vocalist dated her husband for two years before tying the knot. They now share a son together.
Jennifer Nettles is presenting at the 2023 Daytime Emmy Awards on December 15, and the singer-songwriter is known as the lead vocalist from Sugarland. The country music artist became a huge success in the early 2000s, but she stays grounded with her family. Upon meeting husband Justin Miller, Jennifer found the love of her life. Keep reading to learn more about Justin and their marriage.
Justin is reportedly an entrepreneur and a former model. He and Jennifer have maintained a private relationship ever since they first met in the early 2000s, and their love story goes back to 2006.
Jennifer and Justin first met on the set of Sugarland’s music video for “Want To” in 2006. As a former model, Justin landed the gig to appear in a few scenes throughout the video. The duo didn’t start dating until around 2009, according to several outlets.
In 2011, they tied the knot in East Tennessee at Blackberry Farm, where Jennifer’s Sugarland bandmate, Kristian Bush, also attended the intimate sunset ceremony.
Before marrying Justin, Jennifer was with her first husband, Todd Van Sickle, from 1998 to 2007, when they finalized their divorce. It’s not clear why things didn’t work out between Jennifer and Todd, but she eventually developed a strong relationship with Justin, as they started dating two years after her divorce.
In 2012, Jennifer and Justin welcomed their first child, son Magnus Hamilton Miller. The “Stuck Like Glue” singer later opened up about how motherhood changed everything about her life and career.
“After having become a mom, I think I was emboldened by the vulnerability it was to go through that life change,” Jennifer told Entertainment Tonight in 2016. “So, this record is bold in a lot of ways. I think I have a lot to say and different ways to connect with my fans, and with new fans, that I haven’t before. … There is not one aspect of my life that having a child did not change.”
As for how Magnus has had an impact on Jennifer’s music career, she noted that he goes “everywhere” with his mom, “which definitely slows somebody down in the airport, for sure, but it is so welcomed and he is a seasoned little gypsy baby-world traveler,” Jennifer joked during her interview.
“He has more sky miles at his age than I did before I was 30!” she added. “The tour bus is different, the amount of free time I have is different, but that’s the same with any working parent. Your life is completely changed.”
