Throughout her career, Halle Berry has taken up so many iconic roles in a variety of movie genres. The 57-year-old Catwoman actress has starred in a number of movies and even won a Best Leading Actress Academy Award in 2001 for her performance as Leticia Musgrove in Monster Ball. While her career definitely kept her busy, Halle has also raised two kids: daughter Nahla, 15, and son Maceo, 9. In a February 2021 episode Instagram show Bad & Booshy, the actress spoke about her pregnancies and revealed that she felt great during both of them. “I felt sexy every single day of every single one of my two pregnancies,” she said. “I was walking around naked, I was like, ‘Bam! Look at this. Oh, look at this.’”
While Halle is a loving mom, she’s also been embroiled in custody battles with both of her children’s fathers. Her legal battle against Nahla’s dad Gabriel Aubry has spanned a decade. The Catwoman star did win a major victory in her custody battle against Gabriel in May 2023, when her child support payments were capped at $110,000, per DailyMail. Nahla Ariela Aubry
Halle had her first daughter Nahla Ariela, 15, in March 2008. At the time, she was dating model Gabriel Aubry, 45. The couple split up in 2010 and had a pretty heated custody battle for the little girl. When the couple first separated, they’d come to a joint custody agreement, but the pair’s legal battle began when Halle made plans to move to France with Nahla to be with French actor Olivier Martinez, per People. In 2012, the two of them reached an agreement, but the custody battle wasn’t completely over. In 2014, the court decided she needed to pay $16,000 per month, plus a $115,000 lump sum, but in 2021, her monthly payments were cut in half. In 2023, the court limited Halle’s payments to $109,650 per year, and the child support payments will end when Nahla finishes high school or turns 19.
Halle did open up about her frustrations with child support in a 2021 Instagram post. “I’ve been paying it for a decade now. I feel if a woman or man is having to pay support that is way more than the reasonable needs to help SUPPORT the child, I think that is wrong!” she wrote in a comment, per Yahoo News.
Over a decade later, Nahla has grown up quite a bit! The Die Another Day star celebrated Mother’s Day 2020 by posting an adorable photo of both of her kids, giving each other a big hug. Halle also shared a glimpse into her life, with an incredibly sweet photo of herself cuddling up with Nahla and her son on the beach in April. When Nahla celebrated her 13th birthday in March, her mom wrote a sweet Instagram post to commemorate her becoming a teenager. “No matter how many times I tell her that I love her, I love her more than that,” she wrote in a caption. “Happy 13th birthday Nahla Boo.”
In 2023, Halle took Nahla with her to see Barbie in theaters and the mother-daughter duo matched in pink outfits, but the actress revealed that her daughter was “not so mini anymore,” as she stood tall over her mom in the birthday photos.
Maceo-Robert Martinez
Halle gave birth to her son Maceo-Robert, 9, in October 2013. Maceo is the only child from her relationship with her ex-husband Olivier Martinez, 57, whom she separated from in 2015. The pair named their son “Maceo-Robert,” because Maceo means “gift of God” and Robert was Olivier’s father’s name, via People. The John Wick 3 actress revealed in September 2020 Instagram video that sometimes she lifts Maceo, when she works out. During quarantine in March 2020, Halle also showed that Maceo might have an interest in fashion, when she posted a video of the boy adorably walking up stairs in a pair of her heels.
Like with Gabriel, the actress and Olivier did have a bit of a custody battle surrounding Maceo, but it appeared to be resolved quickly and easily. The pair did return to court to agree that it was okay for either of them to bring their son out of Los Angeles for vacation, per The Things.
