Ariana Grande‘s Sweetener World Tour was so successful that it’s headed to Netflix as a concert film! The anticipated documentary, titled Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You, is available on Netflix on December 21, one year after the tour’s end. The Grammy-winner’s Sweetener tour, which marked Ariana’s fourth concert tour, was in support of her fourth and fifth studio albums, Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019). — Take a look through our attached gallery to explore all of Ariana’s Sweetener tour looks, including designs by Versace and more!
Ariana’s Sweetener wardrobe included a number of sultry stage looks with thigh-high boots, mini skirts, crop tops, monochromatic looks and metallic outfits. She wore various costumes by Versace and Michael Ngo and enlisted LeRoy Bennett as creative director and production designer. Some of her sky high platform heels were by Giuseppe Zanotti, Unravel and Casadei. One of our favorite looks was Ariana’s yellow, pink and blue plaid crop top, skirt and matching boots (pictured above), which gave off serious Cher Horowitz from Clueless vibes.
The Sweetener tour set was just as vibrant as Ariana’s on-stage looks. The elaborate abstract visual included a semicircular runway that looped around an audience pit, and a large orb, dubbed “the moon” by Ariana, herself. Behind the moon fixture was a massive projection screen — both of which were inflatable. How cool?!
While Sweetener is her highest-grossing tour to date, the album itself was incredibly successful. Ariana took home the Grammy for Pop Vocal Album in 2019, and her hit “God Is a Woman” (on Sweetener‘s tracklist) received a Grammy nomination for Pop Solo Performance. At the 2020 Grammys, Ariana went on to receive nods for Album and Pop Vocal Album for Thank u, Next. As part of the latter album, her track “7 Rings” was nominated twice for Record and Pop Solo Performance, respectively.
Ariana’s Sweetener tour, which included opening acts by Normani, Ella Mai and Social House, visited North American and European cities on 101 different dates from March 18, 2019 – December 22, 2019. Additionally, throughout the tour, Ariana partnered with nonprofit organization, HeadCount to register new voters ahead of the 2020 United States presidential election. Her Sweetener World Tour brought in millions of “Arianators” (the singer’s beloved fan base) and music critics, which praised everything from the production design, to Ariana’s vocals and (of course) her amazing costumes! — See her Sweetener tour looks by clicking through our attached gallery!
